Il 13 febbraio, le prestigiose sale del Museo d'Arte e Scienza di Milano apriranno le porte alla cerimonia di premiazione degli Olympus Arts Awards. Tra i nomi selezionati per la categoria Arti Visive spicca quello dell'artista Reham Alkhaddam.

1. Reham, cosa significa per te essere stata selezionata tra i trenta vincitori degli Olympus Arts Awards e poter esporre a Milano, al Museo MAS Arte e Scienza?

Essere selezionata tra i trenta vincitori degli Olympus Arts Awards è per me un grande onore. Esporre a Milano, e in particolare al MAS Museo Arte e Scienza, ha un profondo significato perché colloca il mio lavoro all'interno di un dialogo internazionale tra arte, cultura e scienza. È sia un momento di riconoscimento che una forte motivazione a continuare a sviluppare la mia pratica artistica.

2. Cosa volevi fare da bambino? L'arte ha sempre fatto parte di te o c'è stato un momento significativo in cui è nata questa passione?

Da bambina, sono sempre stata attratta dalla creatività e dall'immaginazione. L'arte è parte di me da sempre, da quando ho memoria, anche prima che la comprendessi consapevolmente come "arte". Non c'è stato un momento preciso, ma piuttosto una graduale consapevolezza che creare era il modo in cui esprimevo emozioni, pensieri e domande che non riuscivo a esprimere a parole.

3. Qual era il tuo background?

Il mio background affonda le sue radici in un ricco contesto culturale che valorizza la narrazione, il simbolismo e l'espressione visiva. Questo background ha fortemente influenzato il mio linguaggio artistico e i temi che esploro, in particolare identità, memoria e trasformazione.

4. Quali sono i tuoi colori preferiti? E come hai scelto i colori per il tuo dipinto, che ha vinto l'Olympus Arts Awards?

I miei colori preferiti tendono a essere quelli che trasmettono profondità emotiva, come i toni terrosi, i blu profondi e le tonalità calde e contrastanti. Per il dipinto che ha vinto l'Olympus Arts Awards, ho scelto i colori in modo intuitivo, guidata dall'atmosfera emotiva dell'opera. Ogni colore è stato selezionato per supportare la narrazione e la tensione emotiva all'interno della composizione.

5. Vorresti raccontarci come è nato il lavoro che esporrai in questo evento?

Il lavoro che esporrò in questa occasione è nato da un processo di riflessione e sperimentazione. Si è sviluppato in modo organico, partendo da una domanda interiore e evolvendosi attraverso strati di materia, colore e forma. L'opera finale rappresenta un equilibrio tra controllo e spontaneità, elemento centrale del mio approccio artistico.

Olympus Arts Awards: interview with Reham Alkhaddam

On February 13th, the prestigious halls of the Museum of Art and Science in Milan will open their doors to the Olympus Arts Awards ceremony. Among the names selected for the Visual Arts category, artist Reham Alkhaddam stands out.

1. Reham, what does it mean to you to be selected among the thirty winners of the Olympus Arts Awards and to be able to exhibit in Milan, at the MAS Arte e Scienza Museum?

Being selected among the thirty winners of the Olympus Arts Awards is a great honor for me. Exhibiting in Milan, and particularly at the MAS Arte e Scienza Museum, is profoundly meaningful because it places my work within an international dialogue between art, culture, and science. It's both a moment of recognition and a strong motivation to continue developing my artistic practice.

2. What did you want to do as a child? Has art always been a part of you, or was there a significant moment when this passion was born?

As a child, I was always drawn to creativity and imagination. Art has been a part of me since I can remember, even before I consciously understood it as "art." There wasn't a specific moment, but rather a gradual realization that creating was the way I expressed emotions, thoughts, and questions that I couldn't put into words.

3. What was your background?

My background is rooted in a rich cultural context that values ​​storytelling, symbolism, and visual expression. This background has strongly influenced my artistic language and the themes I explore, particularly identity, memory, and transformation.

4. What are your favorite colors? And how did you choose the colors for your painting, which won the Olympus Arts Awards?

My favorite colors tend to be those that convey emotional depth, such as earthy tones, deep blues, and warm, contrasting hues. For the painting that won the Olympus Arts Awards, I chose the colors intuitively, guided by the emotional atmosphere of the work. Each color was selected to support the narrative and emotional tension within the composition.

5. Would you like to tell us how the work you will exhibit at this event was born?

The work I will exhibit at this event was born from a process of reflection and experimentation. It developed organically, starting from an internal question and evolving through layers of material, color, and form. The final work represents a balance between control and spontaneity, a central element of my artistic approach.
