Il 13 febbraio, le prestigiose sale del Museo d'Arte e Scienza di Milano apriranno le porte alla cerimonia di premiazione degli Olympus Arts Awards. Tra i nomi selezionati per la categoria Arti Visive spicca quello di Tania Tanev, artista che dà voce all'universo interiore delle donne.

1. Quale ruolo pensi che debba avere l'arte oggi? E quale messaggio cerchi di trasmettere con le tue opere? 

« L'arte oggi dovrebbe creare spazi di onestà e pausa interiore: piccoli momenti in cui possiamo incontrare noi stessi senza rumore o distrazioni. In un mondo in continua accelerazione, l'arte ha il potere di rallentarci, di riflettere, di guarire. Con le mie opere, cerco di catturare quegli stati emotivi fragili e intimi che spesso rimangono inespressi: momenti di transizione, chiarezza, vulnerabilità e luce interiore. Il mio intento è trasformare qualcosa di profondamente personale in qualcosa di universale, invitando lo spettatore a riconoscere la propria storia nei miei simboli.»

2. Secondo te, un'opera d'arte esiste anche senza uno spettatore? 

« Sì, ma in un modo diverso. Un'opera d'arte esiste come Energia, Intenzione e Traccia del mondo interiore dell'artista, ma diventa pienamente viva solo quando qualcuno la vede. Lo spettatore non è solo un osservatore; è un co-creatore. Ogni persona porta con sé i propri ricordi, emozioni e interpretazioni. L'arte è un dialogo che inizia in me ma continua negli altri (spettatori).»  

3. Come nascono i tuoi lavori? E come li definiresti? 

« Le mie opere nascono da emozioni vissute. Quasi ogni dipinto nasce da uno stato interiore, qualcosa di profondamente sentito prima di prendere forma. L'emozione è il motore della mia arte; mi guida e ne plasma il simbolismo. Lavoro con cuore, anima e pensiero, lasciando che le esperienze personali si trasformino in narrazioni visive. Definirei le mie opere come una miscela di realismo e simbolismo: oggetti e figure reali carichi di significati emozionali e metaforici. Sono spazi in cui il mondo visibile incontra quello interiore. »

4. Potresti raccontarci delle opere che hanno vinto gli Olympus Arts Awards? 

 « Le opere premiate, "Reflection" e "The Light", rappresentano due stati emotivi lungo lo stesso percorso interiore. "Reflection" cattura un momento di quiete, una pausa, uno sguardo retrospettivo verso l'interno. È uno stato di onestà con se stessi, un delicato confronto con la propria verità. Il dipinto cattura la quiete prima della trasformazione, il momento in cui riconosciamo la nostra posizione. "La Luce" è la naturale continuazione di quel momento. Esprime un ritmo universale: dopo l'oscurità arriva la luce, dopo la pioggia torna il sole. Per me, questa non è solo una metafora, ma una realtà emotiva vissuta. Il dipinto parla delle nostre stagioni interiori, di come la chiarezza appaia dopo periodi di incertezza. Qui, la luce non è un effetto esterno, ma una forza interiore, qualcosa che ci spinge avanti e ci ristabilisce la direzione. Insieme, le due opere formano un dialogo tra introspezione e rinnovamento.»  

 5. Ci sono nuovi progetti su cui stai lavorando che vorresti condividere?

« Attualmente sto lavorando a una nuova serie che prosegue la mia esplorazione della trasformazione interiore, ma attraverso simboli più intimi e quotidiani: oggetti, rituali mattutini, luce e memoria emotiva. È un'estensione naturale del mio diario visivo, dove i piccoli gesti diventano portatori di significato.
Sto anche preparando diverse mostre future, una delle quali in Italia entro la fine dell'anno, che mi permetteranno di continuare a presentare il mio lavoro a un pubblico internazionale. Questi eventi sono strettamente correlati ai temi che sto esplorando nella mia nuova serie, incentrata sul mondo interiore delle donne, sulla luce e sulla trasformazione emotiva...»

Olympus Arts Awards: interview with artist Tania Tanev

On February 13th, the prestigious halls of the Museum of Art and Science will open their doors to the Olympus Arts Awards ceremony. Among the names selected for the Visual Arts category is Tania Tanev, an artist who gives voice to the inner world of women.

1. What role do you think art should have today? And what message do you try to convey with your works?

"Art today should create spaces for honesty and inner pause — small moments where we can meet ourselves without noise or distraction. In a world that constantly accelerates, art has the power to slow us down, to reflect, to heal. With my works, I try to capture those fragile, intimate emotional states that often remain unspoken — moments of transition, clarity, vulnerability, and inner light. My intention is to transform something deeply personal into something universal, inviting the viewer to recognize their own story within my symbols."

2. In your opinion, does a work of art exist even without a viewer?

"Yes — but in a different way. A work of art exists as Energy, Intention, and a Trace of the artist's inner world, but it becomes fully alive only when someone sees it. The viewer is not just an observer; they are a co-creator. Every person brings their own memories, emotions, and interpretations. Art is a dialogue that begins in me but continues in the others(viewers)."

3. How do your works come about? And how would you define them?

"My works are born from lived emotion. Almost every painting begins as an inner state — something felt deeply before it becomes form. Emotion is the engine of my art; it guides me and shapes the symbolism. I work with heart, soul, and thought, allowing personal experiences to transform into visual narratives. I would define them as a blend of realism and symbolism — real objects and figures carrying emotional and metaphorical meaning. They are spaces where the visible world meets the inner one."

4. Could you tell us about the works that won the Olympus Arts Awards?

"The awarded works, "Reflection" and "The Light", represent two emotional states along the same inner journey. "Reflection" captures a quiet moment — a pause, a retrospective look inward. It is a state of honesty with oneself, a gentle confrontation with one's own truth. The painting holds the stillness before transformation, the moment when we recognize where we stand. "The Light" is the natural continuation of that moment. It expresses a universal rhythm: after darkness comes light, after the rain the sun returns. For me, this is not just a metaphor but a lived emotional reality. The painting speaks about our inner seasons — how clarity appears after periods of uncertainty. Here, light is not an external effect but an inner force, something that moves us forward and restores direction. Together, the two works form a dialogue between introspection and renewal."

5. Are there any new projects you're working on that you'd like to share?

"I am currently working on a new series that continues my exploration of inner transformation, but through more intimate, everyday symbols – objects, morning rituals, light and emotional memory. It is a natural extension of my visual diary, where small gestures become carriers of meaning. I am also preparing for several upcoming exhibitions, one of which in Italy later this year, which will allow me to continue presenting my work to an international audience. These events are closely related to the themes I am currently exploring in my new series, which focuses on the inner world of women, light and emotional transformation..."
