Il 13 febbraio, le prestigiose sale del Museo d'Arte e Scienza apriranno le porte alla cerimonia di premiazione degli Olympus Arts Awards. Tra i nomi selezionati per la Sezione Arti Visive, emerge la figura di Mioara Durbaca, che conosciamo meglio attraverso questa intervista.

1. L'arte ha sempre fatto parte della tua vita? Come hai intrapreso questo percorso?

Ho iniziato a dipingere nel 2015, spinto da un desiderio personale di vecchia data. Il mio background professionale è quello dell'informatica. Nel 2015 mi sono chiesto "e se...". Ho preso un blocco da disegno, dei colori acrilici e ho iniziato a studiare, esercitarmi e realizzare i miei primi lavori. Poi sono passato ai colori a olio.

2. Hai ricevuto una formazione accademica o sei autodidatta?

Mi sono laureato alla facoltà di cibernetica e l'anno scorso mi sono diplomata alla Scuola d'Arte di Bucarest , dipartimento di pittura . Ho preso lezioni di pittura dai maestri rumeni: Popa Laurentiu e Vitalie Butescu.

3. Ci sono argomenti ricorrenti nel tuo lavoro?

Mi piace dipingere qualsiasi cosa sia bella, dalle nature morte ai paesaggi, dai fiori ai ritratti. Ciò che mi piace di più sono i paesaggi .

4. Quale ruolo pensi che dovrebbe avere l'arte oggi? E quale messaggio cerchi di trasmettere con il tuo lavoro?

Per me, dipingere non è solo un atto estetico. È una forma di liberazione personale e spirituale, una celebrazione della libertà di essere e di sentire. Per me, l'arte è la suprema espressione di libertà interiore. Attraverso la pittura, cerco di liberare pensieri, emozioni ed esperienze che non possono essere espresse a parole. Ogni opera diventa uno spazio di esplorazione, un dialogo tra spontaneità e consapevolezza, tra controllo e resa.

5. "Dreaming and Hope" è una delle due opere che hai presentato agli Olympus Arts Awards. Ti dispiacerebbe parlarcene?

Con "Sogno e Speranza" ho cercato di trasmettere un senso di calma e la possibilità di un nuovo inizio. I colori suggeriscono la rinascita e il desiderio di raggiungere ideali lontani. La luce riflessa nel ghiaccio sembra provenire da una fonte invisibile, simbolo di fede e forza interiore. Il sogno diventa una porta verso la speranza e, con lo scioglimento del ghiaccio, i fiori, i sogni e tutto ciò che era racchiuso e simboleggiato dal ghiaccio verranno liberati.

Olympus Arts Awards: interview with artist Mioara Durbaca

On February 13th, the prestigious halls of the Museum of Art and Science will open their doors to the Olympus Arts Awards ceremony. Among the names selected for the Visual Arts section, Mioara Durbaca stands out, and we'll get to know her better through this interview.

1.Has art always been a part of your life? How did you embark on this journey?

I started painting in 2015, driven by a long-standing personal desire. My professional background is in computer science. In 2015, I asked myself, "What if..." I grabbed a sketchbook and some acrylic paints, and began studying, practicing, and creating my first works. Then I switched to oil paints.

2. Did you receive an academic education, or are you self-taught?

I graduated from the Faculty of Cybernetics, and last year I graduated from the Bucharest School of Art, Painting Department. I took painting lessons from Romanian masters: Popa Laurentiu and Vitalie Butescu.

3. Are there recurring themes in your work?

I like to paint anything beautiful, from still lifes to landscapes, from flowers to portraits. My favorites are landscapes.

4. What role do you think art should have today? And what message do you try to convey with your work?

For me, painting is not just an aesthetic act. It is a form of personal and spiritual liberation, a celebration of the freedom of being and feeling. For me, art is the supreme expression of inner freedom. Through painting, I try to free thoughts, emotions, and experiences that cannot be expressed in words. Each work becomes a space for exploration, a dialogue between spontaneity and awareness, between control and surrender.

5. "Dreaming and Hope" is one of two works you submitted to the Olympus Arts Awards. Would you mind telling us about it?

With "Dreaming and Hope," I tried to convey a sense of calm and the possibility of a new beginning. The colors suggest rebirth and the desire to achieve distant ideals. The light reflected in the ice seems to come from an invisible source, a symbol of faith and inner strength. The dream becomes a gateway to hope, and as the ice melts, the flowers, dreams, and everything enclosed and symbolized by the ice will be released.
