di Francesca Callipari
Intervista all'artista Valeria Kadra in occasione della sua partecipazione alla Fiera Internazionale d'Arte Contemporanea "Art Shopping" presso Le Salles du Carrousel du Louvre a Parigi (Stand B47)

Art that unites and tells a story:
An interview with artist Valeria Kadra, exhibiting at Le Carrousel du Louvre
Interview with artist Valeria Kadra on the occasion of her participation in the "Art Shopping" International Contemporary Art Fair at Le Salles du Carrousel du Louvre in Paris (Stand B47)

1. Welcome to ILoveItaly News, Valeria. What does it mean to you to bring your artistic vision to the Carrousel du Louvre, one of the beating hearts of the global art world?
Bringing my artistic vision to the Carrousel du Louvre is a great honor and an important opportunity for me. This famous place is not just a well-known cultural center; it's also a gathering spot for artists, curators, and art lovers from all over the world. It allows me to share my work with a varied audience and draw inspiration from the amazing art around me. I see this event as a chance for open conversation, where art can connect people and break boundaries. I'm excited to be part of this creative energy and the vibrant history of the Carrousel du Louvre.
2. Your artistic output combines great analytical rigor with an intense poetic sensibility. How do your works come into being, and what themes or inspirations guide your hand across the canvas?
My work emerges from a blend of deep analysis and a strong emotional core. I start by researching and reflecting on various themes, often drawing inspiration from nature, human experiences, or societal issues. This analytical rigor helps me to understand the context and message I want to convey. However, once I begin to create, I let my emotions guide me, they fuel the brushstrokes and colors I choose.
In my art, themes like connection, impermanence, and the beauty of everyday life often come to the forefront. I aim to evoke emotions while inviting viewers to reflect on the underlying narratives within each piece. Ultimately, it's this interplay between intellectual exploration and emotional expression that shapes my artistic journey.
3. Tell us about the works you will be exhibiting on this occasion—their meanings and techniques.
I will be showcasing a selection of abstract works, including "The Red Moon", which is distinguished by its striking orange circle, symbolizing both the moon and the sun. Set against a textured background of black and gray, this compelling contrast evokes a sense of mystery and energy. The lighter vertical strip on the left adds a touch of balance, reinforcing the harmony between light and darkness. The various textures and layers invite the viewer to explore the intrigue of this minimalist composition, which is nevertheless rich in depth.
Another key piece, titled "The South", employs the predominant colors of African landscapes. These shades evoke the warmth and vitality of desert environments, while different sections of the painting reflect various aspects of African cultures. The use of sand not only symbolizes the arid landscapes and expansive dunes of the Sahara but also pays homage to the richness of Africa's natural resources while emphasizing the fragility of its ecosystems. This choice highlights the importance of collective memory, encapsulating the stories that have shaped the continent.
4. What do you hope the public takes away after viewing your works at the Louvre?
After viewing my works at the Carrousel du Louvre, I hope the public will feel a deep sense of connection, both with the artwork and with the themes they represent. I want them to engage with the emotions and stories conveyed through pieces like "The Red Moon" and "The South." Ideally, viewers will leave with a renewed appreciation for the interplay of light and darkness, the beauty of abstract forms, and the rich tapestry of cultural narratives woven into these works.
My aim is to inspire reflection on the complexities of our world and to encourage a dialogue about the themes of memory, diversity, and the natural environment. Ultimately, I hope they will carry with them a sense of wonder and curiosity about the layers of meaning in art and the connections it fosters between us all.
5. What are your projects or dreams for your artistic future?
My artistic future is filled with a multitude of dreams and ambitions. I wish to explore new techniques and mediums in order to broaden my creative horizons. I also aspire to participate in artist residencies that would allow me to collaborate with other artists, exchange ideas, and draw inspiration from diverse cultures.
In the long term, I would like to continue participating in international exhibitions, to share my work with a wider audience, while raising awareness about topics that are close to my heart, such as nature and collective memory. My ultimate dream is to leave a mark in the art world by creating pieces that resonate with human experiences and evoke deep emotions in those who contemplate them.
