In occasione della Mostra Internazionale "Italy calls the world" che si svolgerà a New York dal 21 giugno presso la Fridman Gallery, abbiamo avuto il piacere di intervistare Jung Chih Chang, tra gli artisti selezionati per questo evento in videoesposizione.

1. Jung Chih Chang, per iniziare, racconti ai nostri lettori quando ha scoperto la sua passione e come ha capito che si trattava di un vero e proprio bisogno spirituale?

Amo la pittura fin da quando ero bambina, perché una scatola di colori può esprimere ciò che vedo o ciò che penso. Quando mostro il mio talento artistico, attiro sempre l'attenzione di tutti. Mi piace essere al centro dell'attenzione; solo quando gli altri mi guardano mi sento veramente viva. Dipingere sembra essere il mio modo di connettermi con il mondo. Se perdessi il mio amore per l'arte, diventerei un essere senza anima.

2. In questa mostra a New York, le sue opere saranno esposte in formato digitale sul grande schermo della galleria. Cosa significa per lei questa opportunità e quali emozioni sta provando?

Sono un'artista internazionale e mostro il mio lavoro a livello globale attraverso fiere d'arte, biennali, musei, gallerie, mostre fisiche e mostre digitali. Promuovo attivamente la mia arte, permettendo a sempre più persone in tutto il mondo di vederla. Esporre la mia arte a New York, una città di livello mondiale, è come trovarsi sul palcoscenico più luminoso del mondo, una sensazione paragonabile ad abbracciare la felicità dell'intero pianeta.

3. Ci parli delle opere selezionate per questo evento e di cosa spera di trasmettere attraverso di esse:

Questa volta espongo tre opere: "A Brave Dream" (Un sogno coraggioso) che ritrae il superamento coraggioso delle proprie paure interiori all'interno di un sogno; "What Did You Say?" (Cosa hai detto?) che esplora la coesistenza tra la natura e l'umanità; e "Unfettered Imagination" (Immaginazione senza vincoli) che descrive il mondo libero e senza freni della pittura, dove l'ispirazione scorre come un'immaginazione selvaggia e sciolta da ogni legame. Il messaggio che voglio trasmettere attraverso di esse è che tutto nel mondo dipende dal cuore: un cuore coraggioso, un cuore gentile, un cuore libero.

4. Se potesse incontrare un artista del passato e osservare il suo lavoro, chi le piacerebbe incontrare?

Mi piacerebbe molto incontrare William Holbrook Beard, un famoso artista antropomorfico e satirico americano del XIX secolo. È noto soprattutto per le sue rappresentazioni satiriche di animali intenti in attività umane. Il mio lavoro riflette l'amore per la vita, osservando il comportamento e le interazioni tra esseri umani e animali, e traendo profonde intuizioni ed emozioni da queste esperienze.

5. Se dovesse descrivere la sua arte in tre parole, quali sceglierebbe?

Essenza, Libertà, Natura.

Interview with artist Jung Chih Chang, one of the participants in the "Italy Calls the World" event.

On the occasion of the International Exhibition "Italy Calls the World," which will take place in New York from June 21st at the Fridman Gallery, we had the pleasure of interviewing Jung Chih Chang, one of the artists selected for this video exhibition event.

1. Jung Chih Chang, to begin, tell our readers when you discovered your passion and how you realized it was a true spiritual need?

I've loved paint since I was a child because a box of paints can express what I see or what I think. When I display my artistic talent, I always attract everyone's attention. I enjoy being the center of attention; only when others are watching me do I feel truly alive. Painting seems to be my way of connecting with the world. If I lost my love for art, I would become a soulless being.

2. In this New York exhibition, you will be displaying your works digitally on the gallery's giant screen. What does this opportunity mean to you, and what emotions are you experiencing?

I am an international artist, showcasing my work globally through art fairs, biennials, museums, galleries, physical exhibitions, and digital exhibitions. I actively promote my art, allowing more people around the world to see it.

Showing my art in New York, a world-class city, feels like standing on the world's brightest stage, a feeling of embracing the happiness of the entire world.

3. Tell us about the works selected for this event and what you hope to convey through them:

This time, I'm exhibiting three works: "A Brave Dream" depicts bravely overcoming inner fears in a dream; "What Did You Say?" explores the coexistence between nature and humanity; and "Unfettered Imagination" describes the free and unrestrained world of painting, where inspiration flows like a wild, unfettered imagination.

The message I want to convey through them is that everything in the world depends on the heart—a brave heart, a kind heart, a free heart.

4. If you could meet an artist from the past and observe their work, who would you like to meet?

I would love to meet William Holbrook Beard, a renowned 19th-century American anthropomorphic and satirical artist. He is best known for his satirical depictions of animals engaging in human activities.

My work reflects a love of life, observing the behavior and interactions between humans and animals, and gaining profound insights and emotions from these experiences.

5. If you had to describe your art in three words, which ones would you choose?

Self, Freedom, Nature
